Guinness World Record for sewing the largest pair of blue jeans celebrated on Friday, one day after cranes buckled while trying to lift the giant 7.5-tonne pants.
Workers laid the pair on the ground and put big balloons inside the legs to show off the size of the jeans, which are 141 feet (43 m) tall and 98 feet (30 m) wide.
They have pockets, red buttons and a brown belt.
On Thursday, disillusioned crane operators gave up trying to lift the pants with three machines and went looking for a fourth. They wanted to lift the pants to display them. On Friday, workers had to scrap the idea of hoisting the jeans altogether.
The Colombian city of Medellin currently holds the record for the world’s largest pair of jeans, which is measured by size, according to the clothing company that organized the event in San Juan de Lurigancho, a district full of textile plants east of the Peru’s capital, Lima.
The previous Guinness record hold is Colombian pair and it were 114 feet (35 m) tall by 82 feet (25 m) wide.
The company’s chief executive said material from the pants will be cut to make backpacks for area school children.

The 19-year-old girl Tempestt Henderson Addicted To Eating Soap And Washing Powder with a dangerous compulsion. Doctors say it could kill her because of it’s toxic compulsion.
But this 19-year-old girl claims she is hopelessly addicted… to eating soap and washing powder.
My bizarre compulsion: Tempestt Henderson, 19, says she is addicted to eating soap - and can go through five bars a week
A rare medical condition has left Tempestt Henderson, from Florida, eating up to five bars of soap a week – and washing powder too.
‘I remember the first time I dipped my fingers into the washing powder,’ she said.
‘I dabbed the powder onto my tongue and it tasted so sweet, and salty…it just felt so right. I was hooked straight away.’

The nursing student says she knew eating soap was dangerous, but ignored the warning labels on the box in favour of licking the deadly powder daily, from the minute she woke up in the morning.
Soon she had moved onto licking the bubbles of soap in the shower, too, a habit that was getting her through up to five bars of soap a week.
‘In the shower, I like to lather up a green bar of soap, and lick the bubbles. And as the soap disintegrates, I pop a tiny amount of the soap into my mouth and suck it. It’s heavenly.
‘I love the clean feeling it gives me. Eating soap feels so much cleaner than just washing with it.’
After six months of eating soap, unhappy Tempestt decided to be brave and seek medical advice. She was diagnosed with a rare disorder called PICA, which doctors told her is characterised by an appetite for substances that are largely non-nutritive.
Sufferers have been known to compulsively eat metal, coins, chalk, batteries and even toothbrushes. It can often be caused by a mineral deficiency, which explains why pregnant women often crave eating coal when needing iron.
But in Tempestt’s case doctors believed the condition was bought on by stress.
‘Things got really stressful for me when my boyfriend, Jason, split up with me and left for college,’ she admitted.
‘He told me he was going to college in Kansas to study business. I begged him to give the long distance relationship a go, but he told me it was over. I was devastated.’
When Tempestt herself had to leave for college, hundreds of miles away from her family home in Florida, things took a turn for the worse.
‘College was five hours away from my family, and the stress got bigger. With no boyfriend and my family miles away, I got lonely, sad and depressed. I turned to bath soap and laundry detergent and my problem got increasingly worse.’
Dr Barton Blinder, the world’s authority on PICA, says that eating soap in these quantities could seriously affect Tempestt’s health:.
‘With soap, the worry is the problems associated with ingesting toxic chemicals, which are typically alkaline but there are other toxic substances in soap.
‘These can damage someone’s metabolism and cause digestive problems. With soap, you’re also concerned about the acid-base balance of the blood.’
But for Tempestt, therapy got to the bottom of her addiction to soap, and the cause of her PICA.
‘I always knew I loved the smell of washing detergent,’ she explained.
I remember the brand my Mum always used to use – I remember the smell vividly, it was the smell of her cardigan when she hugged me, and the smell of my bed sheets as a child.
‘I used to love smelling the powder, but when life got so stressful I found only eating the soap would help.
‘It is an addiction, I can’t stop, and I have sought the help of a doctor who specialises in addiction. The doctor told me I must empty my house of all washing detergent and soap, anything that triggers my addiction.’
Psychologists have said that Tempestt most likely turned to soap eating as a comforting coping mechanism when she found herself away from her family.
‘We use liquid at home now,’ she said, ‘and for some reason I’ve got no need to eat that.’
The doctor gave Tempestt intensive Cognitive-behavioral therapy, or CBT, to give her replacement thoughts that will prevent her from compulsively reaching for soap.
‘I’m learning to think about positive things when I feel I need to eat soap,’ she said.
She has also been encouraged to go for long walks, avoiding places where soap is present, like bathrooms and laundrettes.
She added: ‘Doctors have encouraged me to talk about my issues, because they think my addiction is caused by me bottling things up.’
And for the teenager who used to take not one, not two, but three bottles of soap into the shower, she hasn’t eaten soap since September 2010.
When her mother found out about her daughter’s addiction, she ordered Tempestt to return home from college. It may have been a smart move as Tempette admitted: ‘I just couldn’t face being back there, alone, with a campus full of soap.’
Today, she faces a long road of recovery, but says she hopes she’ll never have to eat soap ever again.
‘I suppose my Mum is secretly relieved that I was addicted to soap,’ she admited, ‘and not dangerous drugs or something.’
When you can't stop: Doctors have diagnosed Tempestt with a rare disorder called PICA, characterised by an appetite for substances that are non-nutritive

Before it all began: Tempestt as a young girl in an undated family photo
NOT a balanced meal: Doctors say if Tempestt doesn't kick her habit - which they blame on PICA, caused by stress - it could kill her

A young teenage girl Jemma Benjamin, 18 died after kissing her boy friend for the first time. According to the police sources, Benjamin shared a romantic moment with University fellow named Daniel Ross and then Benjamin suddenly fell to the sofa and died in few minutes.

Jemma Benjamin

This is what Ross says, “We were going to go to a bar for some food and went back to my house for a credit card which I had forgotten. We were talking and ended up kissing by the front door. We went into the kitchen and then the living room and Jemma sat down on the sofa.”

Mr Ross said Miss Benjamin’s eyelids suddenly ‘began to droop’ and her mouth started to froth before she collapsed at his student flat in Pontypridd, South Wales.
Ross tried to save her but can’t do any thing, when the paramedics arrived she was no more.
Ross told to police we were friends for the last 3 months and we never had a sexual relationship, and this is the first time we kissed.
Ross said Benjamin’s eyelids suddenly ‘began to droop’ and her mouth started to froth before she collapsed at his student flat in Pontypridd.
Jemma Benjamin died of sudden adult death syndrome (SADS), that is a rare heart condition where about 500 people died in Britain each year due to this disease.

Although it is one of the most famous sharks, the great white shark is not the biggest shark in the world. That “prestigious title” belongs to the whale shark (lat. Rhincodon typus). This species can reach the weight of 22 tons and the length of nearly 13 meters, which was the length of the largest measured individual whale shark (it was caught in Pakistan, in 1947).

This species lives in the open sea in tropical and warm waters. They can be found in Western Australia, near the Philippines, in the Ujung Kulon National Park in Indonesia and in the southern and eastern parts of South Africa. 1849. a military doctor Andrew Smith published a more detailed description of the whale shark.
The name “whale” comes from its physiology because it is large as a whale. But at the same time it is a filter feeder. Because it is a filter feeder its mouth can be up to 1,5 meters wide and may have between 300 and 350 rows of tiny teeth. Five large pairs of gills are placed on the mostly gray body with a white belly.
What is very interesting is the so-called “checkerboard” on their skin, which contains a pale yellow spots and stripes. This is very important for counting their population, because each whale shark has a different “checkerboard”.
Their respiratory system is made of so-called spiracles located just behind the front of its wide head with small eyes. It feeds with plankton, krill, macro-algae, small squid and other aquatic vertebrates.
Their mode of reproduction is called ovoviviparity. This means that eggs with embryos are retained within the mother’s body until they are ready to hatch. They are born alive and they are usually between 40 and 60 centimeters long.
Although it is the largest among its kind, the whale shark is not the most dangerous one. On the contrary, certain places in which they live have become real tourist attractions, thanks to their clemency (for example, Ningalo Reef in Australia, which is known for its ”Swim with sharks” program.)
It is interesting to mention that the smallest living specimen of the whale shark was only 38 centimeters long.

The Biggest Cat in The World
The question of the biggest cat in the world is not a simple one cause there are so many hybrid species but also extraordinary examples within quite ordinary species.

Here is one of each – one belonging to the domestic species and one belonging to the hybrid species.
First there is a story of a cat called Snowball, which is a domestic cat – quite an “ordinary” species – but this cat is extraordinary as can be. It is incredibly large. Snowball is a pet of Rodger Degagne who found two kittens (those kittens grew up and gave birth to several kittens and one of them was Snowball). Today it is quite an old female cat – nearly 10 years old, and with each year she became bigger and bigger.
It weights as much as 39 kilograms! Even the neighbor dogs are very careful not to say a bit frighten by this cat. As an explanation to her irregular size, the veterinarian said it might be caused by the thyroid, but since the cat is not fat, that’s probably not the case.
Then there is an interesting example of an extremely large cat hybrid. It is officially the biggest cat in the world. It is called the Liger and it came from a tigress and a male lion. Not only it is the largest cat in the world, which is a feature that came from both lion and tiger, but it also inherited more features from both. However, regardless of their strength and skills inherited from both crossed species, they live in captivity.
An average liger female weights more than 330 kg and can be more than 3 meters long. As they get older, they get bigger and bigger. There were records about nearly 800 kg female liger which lived for 23 years! There are more examples similar to this one, so it definitely confirms that the hybrid species’ health is not that fragile as believed.

The Biggest Dog in the World
According to the Guinness Book of Records, the biggest dog in the world is English Mastiff named Zorba. He is weighing 156 kg, 94 cm high at the shoulders and is 2.5 meters long, measured from the tip of the nose to the tip of the tail. Still, when people ask about the dog’s size the question has to be more precise because “how big a dog is” and “how tall a dog is” are two different things.

The tallest dog in the world was Gibson, a Harlequin Great Dane. He was 107 cm high at the shoulders and almost 215 cm tall when standing on his hind legs. His successor and currently the tallest dog in the world is George, also a Great Dane.
George is 109 cm tall at the shoulders and 220 cm long from the tip of the nose to the tip of the tail. Speaking of the biggest dog breed, all experts agree that English Mastiffs are the biggest. Although the Great Dane and Irish Wolfhound are taller, they don’t have the body mass of the Mastiffs.
Mastiffs’ bodies are massive and square with broad skull. The body is very large in both breadth and depth. The standard height for English Mastiffs is 76 cm minimum at the shoulders for the males and 70 cm for the females. A typical English Mastiff male can weigh between 69-110 kg. Females weigh between 55-91 kg.
Their life span is between seven and thirteen years. An average Great Dane is height about 75 cm. Their typical weight is 54 kg minimum for the male and 45 kg for the female.
Mastiffs are the descendants of Alaunts, a breed which was developed by Alani people in the 4th century BC.

Princess Juliana International Airport serves Saint Maarten, the Dutch part of the island of Saint Martin. It is the second busiest airport in the Eastern Caribbean. The airport is famous for its short landing strip — only 2,180 meters/7,152 ft, which is barely enough for heavy jets.

Because of this, the planes approach the island flying extremely low, right over Maho Beach. Countless photos of large jets flying at 10–20 m/30-60 ft over relaxing tourists at the beach have been dismissed as fakes many times, but are nevertheless real. For this reason as well it has become a favorite for plane spotters. Despite the difficulties in approach, there has been no records of major aviation incidents at the airport.

Har Prakash had all of his teeth removed in order to make more room in his mouth so that he could set the Guinness WorldRecord for stuffing the most straws into his mouth. The 70-year-old managed to hold almost 500 straws in his mouth at once.

The attempt took place on the set of the Indian GWR TV show, “Guinness World Records: Ab india Todega,” where it was filmed before a live audience on March 17, with the episode airing on April 30.

Prakash, who legally changed his name to Guinness Rishi, held 496 straws in his mouth for 10 seconds to meet GWR guidelines.
Rishi already has another Guinness World Record under his belt. On May 13, 2010, he received the title of “most flags tattooed on body” after he got tattoos of the flags of 305 countries. Rishi also has tattoos of 185 country maps.

If you’re scared of heights, it may be time to look away now.Not content with having the tallest building in America, the owners of Sears Tower in Chicago have installed four glass box viewing platforms which stick out of the building 103 floors up.
The balconies are suspended 1,353 feet in the air and jut out four feet from the building’s Skydeck.
Fearless: Anna Kane, five, spreads out on the floor of the 10ft square box which is 1,353ft up

Spectacular: She also enjoyed amazing views out across the city‘At first I was kind of afraid but I got used to it’, 10-year-old Adam Kane from Alton, Illinois, said as clouds drifted by below.
‘Look at all those tiny things that are usually huge.’ John Huston, one of the owners of the Sears Tower, even admitted to getting ‘a little queasy’ the first time he ventured out on to the balcony. However, after 30 or 40 trips, he seems to have got used to it.
jut out four feet from the building and were specifically designed to make visitors feel as if they are floating

The Sears Tower has always been about superlatives – tallest, largest, most iconic,’ he said.‘The Ledge is the world’s most awesome view, the world’s most precipitous view, the view with the most wow in the world.’
The balconies are 10ft high and 10ft wide, can hold five tons, and have glass which is 1.5 inch thick
Unfazed: Although some adults felt dizzy after experiencing the Ledge, children seemed to take it in their    stride
Long way up: Even the floor of the platforms are glass – few were brave enough to look straight downInspiration came from the hundreds of forehead prints visitors left behind on Skydeck windows every week. Now, staff will have a new glass surface to clean: floors.
Architect Ross Wimer said: ‘We did studies that showed a four-foot-deep (1.2 metres) enclosure makes you feel like you’re floating since there’s only room for one row of people, not two.’
The Skydeck attracts 25,000 visitors on clear days. They each pay $15 to take an elevator ride up to the 103rd floor of the 110-story office building that opened in 1973.

The giant dessert that broke the Guinness World Record for the largest ice cream cake was so huge that it had to be weighed on a scale normally used to weigh commercial airplanes. The cake weighed in at more than 20,000 pounds and was created to celebrate the 30th birthday of the Canadian branch of the Dairy Queen franchise. The company asked food engineering students at the University of Toronto to help them design the cake so that it would meet Guinness World Records guidelines.According to the guidelines, the ice cream cake should not collapse or melt until after it has been weighed, measured and served. It would also have to beat the previous record-holder, a 19,290-pound ice cream cake from Beijing that has held the title since 2006.For Dairy Queen’s record attempt, refrigerated trucks carrying sections of the cake arrived mid-morning on May 10 at Toronto’s Yonge-Dundas Square in Ontario, Canada. The ice cream cake team of DQ employees assembled the individual pallets, which were huge blocks of ice cream covered with sponge cake, on the scale platform.

The workers then frosted the final combined cake with buttercream and topped it off with Oreo cookie crumbles. The scale used to measure the cake is normally used to weigh commercial airplanes, and it was able to weigh the cake to the nearest 0.1 pound. With a final weight of 22,333.6 pounds, the massive ice cream cake surpassed the previous record-holder by more than 3,000 pounds. Now that’s one impressive birthday cake!

A young Thai girl with a rare genetic condition that causes her to have thick hair over most of her body has set a new Guinness World Record as the hairiest child.Supatra “Nat” Sasuphan was born with hypertrichosis, which causes excessive hairiness and is sometimes referred to as “werewolf syndrome.” The 11-year-old girl’s father contacted Guinness World Record staff, requesting that they consider her for the title of hairiest child.Guinness World Record judges evaluated Sasuphan’s body hair using the Ferriman Gallwey method, which consists of measuring the amount of hair on nine different parts of the body – the upper lip, chin, chest, back, abdomen, arm, forearm, thigh, and lower leg. After assessing Sasuphan, the judges crowned her with the world’s hairiest child title on the GWR’s Italian TV show, “Lo Show dei Record.”

The new Guinness World Record for using the most flashbulbs to take a photograph was set by photographer Jason Groupp, who used 300 flashbulbs to take a photo of himself. The record attempt took place at the “After Dark” photography conference in Cincinnati, Ohio, on May 9. The conference focused on taking photographs at night and learning how to create different lighting techniques. For the conference, Groupp, a New York City-based photographer, came up with the idea to take a photo using more flashes than ever before in order to set a new Guinness World Record.Because no one had ever attempted this record before, GWR set the record minimum at 100 flash bulbs. According to GWR guidelines, each flash had to be connected to a single camera device and the flashes had to be triggered simultaneously. But the flashbulbs didn’t have to be physically connected to the camera, as Groupp’s flashbulbs were actually triggered wirelessly.Groupp and his photography team decided to mount the flashbulbs on four large boards, each of which was about 4 feet wide and 8 feet tall. Holes were drilled into the board to fit the bulbs, with 75 flashes per board.Radio transmitters were also attached to the boards so that the flashes would simultaneously fire when the camera took the photo. The photography equipment for the record attempt, which was sponsored by Midwest Photo Exchange and Radiopopper, cost more than $80,000, or about $20,000 for each board. The photograph was taken shortly after sunset in front of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in downtown Cincinnati. The photo shows Jason and his team sitting and standing around the 300-flashbulb boards. When the record-setting picture was taken, the flashes simultaneously fired off at around 1/6,000th of a second. Let’s hope no one blinked!

Iguazu Falls are known throughout the world as one of the most beautiful and majestic natural waterfalls man has ever seen. The falls themselves sit on the Iguazu River and rest on the border between Brazil and Argentina. Visited by many people every year, the Iguazu Falls are one of the more popular natural tourist destinations in South America. The first European explorer to find Iguazu Falls was Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca, a Spanish Conquistador, who came upon them in 1541. The falls went mostly unvisited after that until being rediscovered once again in the late nineteenth century. The name Iguazu comes from a local Indian language and roughly translates as “Big Water”.

The Iguazu Falls divide the waterway into the Upper and Lower Iguazu River. The northern bank of the falls is in the Brazilian State of Parana while the southern bank sits in the Argentinean Province of Misiones. The falls themselves actually consist of over 270 separate falls that stretch for more than one and a half miles. Most of the individual waterfalls are about 200 feet in height. The most famous of them all is known as The Devil’s Throat which is a U-shaped waterfall that is almost 500 feet across and well over 2,000 feet in length. When appearing in movies, post cards, and elsewhere,

The Devil’s Throat is usually the section of Iguazu Falls that is pictured. One of the main concerns about most large waterfalls is whether or not they will erode away over the course of time. Iguazu Falls has little to worry when it comes to this as the basalt cliffs have been measured to recede, or be worn away, at approximately only 3 milimeters a year. Drought is a bigger concern when it comes to the falls, a regular drought occurs yearly that leaves the falls to look significantly less spectacular. The low running water period of time usually only lasts a few weeks, but if someone is visiting the area specifically to see the falls they may want to inquire about the water level ahead of time. The magnitude and overall length of Iguazu Falls insures that it will be kept in the pantheon of great waterfalls of the world. Iguazu Falls belongs right up there with Victoria Falls and Niagara Falls when it comes to the most beautiful waterfalls of all.
